Youth Voice

Youth Voice is central to everything that we do at EYHC. We believe that young people should be at the forefront of efforts to end youth homelessness, and we work hard to create platforms where young people can share their views, opinions, and experiences with policymakers and decision makers from across Wales.

We are inspired by the work of the Centre for Youth Impact, who define Youth Voice as, “Providing support (ie the space, skills and time) for young people to express their views and ideas, and action being taken based on what they say.”

As a charity, we are led by our fantastic EYHC Champions, who form our Young Person’s Board. Our EYHC Champions set the direction of the charity, providing feedback on all of our work and identifying the areas where we can have the most impact.

The environment was one where I felt very respected whilst also being granted sufficient agency to make my voice heard. A lot of being homeless is about the opposite; being forced to present yourself in a manner that’s more pleasing to authority for the sake of survival. [...] I’d describe the experience as truly liberating, despite the subject matter of these sessions, they were times where I felt most like myself, unhampered by expectations of authority.
